WHO IS YESHUA

Who is Yeshua (Jesus) – Click to PLAY

There are many ways to share Yeshua with others but it ultimately comes down to “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. …He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3: 16-17; 36 NKJV).

YESHUA FULFILLS PROPHECY OF THE MESSIAH

Over the years, I have reviewed 100s of prophecies about Yeshua. The strongest prophecies, which I believe point to Yeshua as the Messiah, are the ones that could not easily be arranged by a human. Personally these are my Top 15 (I ranked them):

1. Messiah would come at the exact appointed time and be cut off after 69 weeks

(Daniel gave the timing before Yeshua came. 69 weeks equals 483 prophetic years, placing Messiah’s death around the time of Yeshua’s crucifixion – it could not be anyone else) Daniel declares, “unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks,” and then declares, “after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself.” Luke confirmed Yeshua appeared at that time, “in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar,” and the New Testament confirmed Messiah was cut off when “they crucified him,” and Yeshua declared, “It is finished” (Dan. 9:25-26; Lk 3:1-2; Lk 23:33; Jn 19:30).

2. Messiah would be resurrected, not left in corruption, and rise in a physical body

(Scripture says He was seen by over 500 people, and many who were once fearful boldly gave their lives declaring they had seen Him alive.) David declares, “neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption,” and Acts confirmed, “neither his flesh did see corruption.” David also declares, “unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death,” and Luke recorded that Yeshua declared, “a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Ps. 16:10; Ps. 68:20; Acts 2:31; Acts 13:35-37; Lk 24:39; Jn 20:27; 1 Cor. 15:6).

3. Messiah’s hands and feet would be pierced

(This was prophesied about 1000 years before Christ came, and centuries before Roman crucifixion was used in Judaea.) David declares, “they pierced my hands and my feet,” and the New Testament confirms He was crucified, with Thomas saying, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails,” and Yeshua saying, “Behold my hands and my feet” (Ps. 22:16; Mt. 27:35; Lk 23:33; Jn 19:18; Jn 20:25-27; Lk 24:39).

4. Messiah would bring all nations to God, not Israel only

(The God of Israel was not worshipped by all nations, yet through Yeshua, Gentiles from many nations have come to the God of Israel.) Moses declares, “in thy seed shall all the nations… be blessed,” and Paul confirmed that the seed is Christ, and that in Christ, “there is neither Jew nor Greek… for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gen. 22:18; Gen. 28:14; Gal. 3:8, 16, 28-29).

5. Messiah would come through David’s seed, yet not through the cursed royal line of Jeconiah

(This is powerful because the ancestral records still existed before the Temple was destroyed in AD 70, but after its destruction, no one could clearly prove their Davidic lineage in the same way.) Jeremiah declares of Jeconiah, “no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David,” while Luke records the lineage through “Nathan, which was the son of David,” and Matthew records the legal royal line through “Solomon” and “Jechonias” (Jer. 22:30; Mt. 1:6, 11-16; Lk 3:23, 31).

6. Messiah would heal, open blind eyes, deaf ears, and make the lame walk

(These were public miracles impossible for an ordinary man, and one of the key reasons jealous religious leaders wanted Him killed.) Isaiah declares, “the eyes of the blind shall be opened,” and Matthew confirmed, “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk” (Is. 35:5-6; Is. 29:18; Mt. 11:4-6; Mt. 9:30; Mt. 12:22; Mt. 20:34; Mt. 21:14; Mk 7:32-37; Jn 9:1-7).

7. Messiah’s bones would not be broken

(This is powerful because crucified men often had their legs broken to speed up death, yet Yeshua’s bones were not broken.) David declares, “He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken,” and John confirmed, “that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken” (Ps. 34:20; Jn 19:33-36).

8. Messiah would be sold for specifically 30 pieces of silver

(This is highly specific, and the amount was decided by the chief priests, not by Yeshua.) Zechariah declares, “they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver,” and Matthew confirmed, “they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver” (Zech. 11:12; Mt. 26:14-16; Mt. 27:3).

9. The silver would be used for the potter’s field

(This is specific because the money was later used to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers.). Zechariah declares, “cast them to the potter,” and Matthew confirmed that they “bought with them the potter’s field” (Zech. 11:13; Mt. 27:5-10).

10. Messiah would be buried with the rich

(This is striking because Yeshua was condemned as a criminal, yet was buried in a rich man’s own new tomb.) Isaiah declares, “with the rich in his death,” and Matthew confirmed, “a rich man… laid it in his own new tomb” (Is. 53:9; Mt. 27:57-60).

11. Messiah would be betrayed by a friend

(A friend is someone close to Him, not merely an enemy from outside.) David declares, “mine own familiar friend… hath lifted up his heel against me,” and John recorded that Yeshua said, “He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me” (Ps. 41:9; Jn 13:18; Jn 17:12).

12. John the Baptist would come before Yeshua as the forerunner

(This is specific because someone of great influence came before Him to prepare hearts to receive Him. John was a famous prophet, born in his parents’ old age, and Yeshua called him the greatest born of women.) Isaiah declares, “The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD,” and John the Baptist declared, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord” (Is. 40:3; Jn 1:23; Mt. 3:1-3; Mk 1:2-4; Lk 3:4-6).

13. Messiah would be born in Bethlehem

(As a man, Yeshua could not arrange where He would be born, yet the census brought Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem.) Micah declares, “out of thee shall he come forth unto me,” and Matthew confirmed, “Jesus was born in Bethlehem” (Mic. 5:2; Mt. 2:1-6; Lk 2:4-7).

14. Messiah would be beaten and spat upon

(This was done to the Messiah, though one would expect Him to be honoured and received.) Isaiah declares, “I gave my back to the smiters… my face… spitting,” and Matthew confirmed they “did spit in his face” and “scourged Jesus” (Is. 50:6; Mt. 26:67; Mt. 27:26-30; Mk 14:65; Mk 15:15-19).

15. Messiah’s garments would be gambled for

(This is very specific, as people do not commonly gamble for another man’s clothing.) David declares, “They part my garments… cast lots,” and John confirmed, “for my vesture they did cast lots” (Ps. 22:18; Mt. 27:35; Mk 15:24; Lk 23:34; Jn 19:24).
